Controlling Disease-Carrying and Blood-Feeding Flies in Pastured Beef Cattle

Face flies are known vectors of the bacterium that can cause pinkeye disease in cattle. Pinkeye disease, if not treated immediately, can lead to cattle blindness. Horn flies and stable flies are irritating blood feeders that can reduce weaning weights in calves and weight gain and milk production in cows.
